WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — Police are working to identify two suspects who allegedly stole an SUV in Dallas before attempting to steal an ATM in Tarrant County by ripping it out of a convenience store wall.
Officers responded around 3:44 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, to a 7-Eleven located in the 2600 block of Cherry Lane, Christopher Cook, White Settlement Police Chief, said in a social media post.

“Pretty shocking. It just seemed pretty violent,” Cook said in an interview with WFAA.
According to Cook, it’s the third time the owner has had one of his shops hit with an attempted ATM burglary.
“It sends shockwaves through the community, it sends fear,” Cook said. “At this time of the year you see that level of desperation, and that’s what makes it dangerous.”
Police found that two male suspects tied a metal cable to an ATM machine and attempted to pull the device from the store, causing damage to the glass and door at the front of the store, the post states.
As the suspects drove away while dragging the ATM, the machine was dislodged from the metal cable and the suspects abandoned it on the service road of Interstate 30 between South Cherry Lane and South Las Vegas Trail, Cook said. Officers were able to recover the ATM.
Police located the SUV in the 2700 block of Shenandoah Road in Fort Worth, less than a mile from where the theft took place, the release states. The suspects may have abandoned the vehicle and run away on foot, or driven away in another vehicle, officials said.

The SUV used in the attempted theft was stolen from a Dallas apartment complex an hour prior to the theft, officials said.
The suspects are described as two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, face masks and orange gloves, the post states. One man was wearing white sneakers and the other wore black sneakers.
White Settlement detectives are working with neighboring police departments as two similar incidents have occurred in neighboring cities within the past two weeks, Cook said.
